Nowadays many people choose to be self-employed, rather than to work for a company or organization. Why might this be the case?
What could be the disadvantages of being self- employed?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or
experience.
Write at least 250 words.
Most of the workers, at present, tend to be employers rather than being a loyal employee forever.
What motivate people towards this? Many crucial issues can be taken into consideration to
answer this question.
There are several causes which might be accountable for this. To begin with, lower wages can
get skilled workers to leave their job. In my company, for example, I find hundreds of employees
quitting their job every year and trying to be self-employed. And, they primarily blame the poor
salary structure. Moreover, creativity is less emphasized in some private and government
organizations. For instance, in army, there is little chance to show one‘s innovations except
following rules strictly. So, maximum soldiers resign from their job after a certain period and
start doing something on their own. Furthermore, to materialize one‘s dream, one can take up a
new activity for living which makes them bow out of their job.
Being self-employed, on contrary, is not a wise decision always for every individual. And, many
pragmatic reasons can easily be depicted for this. Firstly, it is not possible for all the
entrepreneurs to invest uninterruptedly under different circumstances. As many businesses
require incessant investment, this can be a stumbling block for the entrepreneurs with a little
capital. In addition, nowadays, making people happy with all the monetary facilities provided is
getting next to impossible for the business owners. So, the long term loyalty has decreased,
which leads the employee turnover among the companies towards a vulnerable situation. Very
few business initiators can normally handle such a hazardous situation. Finally, many important
factors such as, collecting raw materials, maintaining firms, organizing workers are hardly
possible for maximum employers in this competitive world which they even never think before
the startups.
In sum, I think that working for the same company throughout one‘s life would not be a wise
decision. Rather, we ought to try to introduce something on our own and explore our innovations
to lend a hand towards our society.
